Alarms are blaring about artificial intelligence deepfakes that manipulate voters, like the robocall sounding like President Biden that went to New Hampshire households, or the fake video of Taylor Swift endorsing Donald Trump. Yet there’s actually a far bigger problem with deepfakes that we haven’t paid enough attention to: deepfake nude videos and photos that humiliate celebrities and unknown children alike. One recent study found that 98 percent of deepfake videos online were pornographic and that 99 percent of those targeted were women or girls. Francesca Mani, a 14-year-old high school sophomore in New Jersey, told me she was in class in October when the loudspeaker summoned her to the school office. A Subway outlet at a Delhi airport terminal announced the "Temporary Unavailability of TOMATOES" in a sign saying the restaurant could not get enough supply that passed its quality checks. CNN —An Australian man arrested in a conservative area of Indonesia over an alleged violent rampage faces the possibility of prison time and a public flogging, authorities have said. Bodhi Mani Risby-Jones, 23, from Noosa in southern Queensland, was arrested after allegedly attacking and injuring a local fisherman while drunk. It is the only Indonesian province officially practicing Sharia law, enforced by religious police officers known as the Wilayatul Hisbah, and outlaws homosexuality, adultery, alcohol and gambling. The police chief said Risby-Jones would have a choice over whether to be prosecuted under Sharia law or provincial law. If found guilty under Sharia law he faces the possibility of 40 lashes and up to 2.5 years jail.

Italy's government is hell-bent on passing a law that would penalize the use of non-Italian words. The proposed law would fine people who they believe are bastardizing the language. The proposed law seeks to stop "Anglomania," which "demeans and mortifies," Italian language and culture, according to the bill's text—and could even penalize Italians who mispronounce words like "Bruschetta." Pronouncing the word Bruschetta as "bru-shetta" and not "bru-sketta," for example, could cost Italians financially under the proposed law, according to CNN. Meloni's party is in support of the bill, which will be opened for parliamentary debate soon.

Asked for comment, an Adani Group spokesperson said in an email that the share sale was going "as per schedule", without elaborating. The Adani Group has called the report baseless and said it was considering taking action against Hindenburg. Friday's 20% fall in shares of group flagship Adani Enterprises dragged it 11% below the minimum offer price of the secondary sale. Adani had set a floor price of 3,112 rupees ($38.22) a share and a cap of 3,276 rupees, but Adani Enterprises closed on Friday 2,761.45 rupees. A fourth source said Adani management is also discussing the share sale internally to decide on next steps.
